What-a-Weekend!

Fun but crazy weekend! I went out both Friday and Saturday night so when Sunday rolled around I slept like a baby!!

Saturday was parent's banquet so I got to see my lovely parents and was able to go grocery shopping! yay!

I am so excited that I have fresh fruit (strawberries and blueberries) and salad stuff (lettus and spinach) !!

This morning I woke up 2 hours early all on my own (aka no alarm clock)!! I was so happy! I was able to make myself some oatmeal w/ cranberries, 1/2 a banana, and almonds. I also made my Starbucks Breakfast Blend for the first time - so good!!

Then later I had a snack of my mini-bagel w/ whipped cream cheese and blueberry yogurt w/ fresh blueberries!

For lunch I had a turkey sandwhich with mustard and a salad with blueberries and almonds. I have never put blueberries in a salad before and I was pleasently surprised!

Not sure what I'm having for dinner yet but today I have been on a roll!

Right now I just need to find motivation to go to the gym... I have enough energy but apparently energy and motivation are 2 very different things.

Caffeine Junkie?

Venti Quad Shot Skinny Vanilla Latte. :)

It's been a wonderful day! I have a lot to say so I will be updating later!

Strong Coffee

I believe humans get a lot done, not because we're smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee. ~Flash Rosenberg

I finished off the last of my Starbuck's Christmas Blend this morning. Christmas Blend is one of my favorite coffees!

There is nothing like a stormy day and a good cup of coffee!

Falling a Little Short

This week has FLOWN by!

I haven't exactly stuck to my "healthy eating" ideal...

Or to my not purchasing any food items...

or no sweets (TCBY is my downfall!)

Since I haven't had the chance to make it to the store to buy groceries I have started a trend of eating on campus (which is so easy to do since it is litterally steps from my dorm room!).

Luckily we have an Au Bon Pain. That is pretty much my go-to place for on campus eating.

Which isn't always a good thing since it is the most expensive around.

[Paying $10 for a salad, $2 for a bottle of water, $7 for a tiny sandwich every day adds up!]

Au Bon Pain reminds me exactly of Panera. I feel like everything there is pretty healthy.(better than my Chick-fil-a alternative!)

I also haven't been waking up early! I don't know what it is but I just can NOT get out of bed until the last possible second!

This morning I woke up at 9:20 for a 9:30 class! Even just getting up at 8:45 would make a world of difference! I can't seem to find the motivation or the will to get myself out of bed!

Oh well, there is always tomorrow...

Waking Up Early

Day 1 of waking up early?

1/2 worked -- 1/2 didn't

I woke up in a frenzy thinking I had overslept and I jumped out of bed, my only motivation being to get to class on time.

Well when I looked at the clock I realized I had woken up 45 minutes early than needed. With this extra time I proceeded to drink my coffee while watching Regis and Kelly. A great way to start the morning!

So when I thought I was running late I opened a Nature's Valley Yogurt Bar because I thought I needed a quick breakfast. I decided after class to grab a yummy strawberry smoothie. If I could make my own I would in a heart beat! But being in a dorm leaves the kitchen appliences to a minimum.

Not the healtiest but I'm working on it... one step at a time.

And of course the most important part of the morning! Coffee! [Gevalia Costa Rica roast]

sorry for the poor picture quality. I had to use my cell phone while my camera charges!

Spring Resolutions

I believe that spring is the perfect time to start new resolutions. Why start them in January when it's cold and dreary... spring is perfect because the weather is beautiful and something about this season just evokes the need for a "fresh start."

So I am proposing a

Spring Cleaning of Myself.

Things I want to Change:

- I am going to become a morning person. This one is going to be the hardest for me because I am the complete opposite! I get up 20 minutes before class starts (3 minute walking time) so I always feel rushed in the mornings. Instead, I want to feel calm and enjoy the peacefulness of the morning! I want to take time making breakfast and be able to actually enjoy my morning cup of coffee instead of gulping it down!

- I am going to workout every day. Ahh working out... my enemy. Now that it's spring I want to feel energized and envigorated. While I can get those feelings from coffee, there is just something about feeling naturally envigorated and motivated.

- I will not buy coffee on campus. This is where all of my money went! I am lucky enough to have an wonderful coffeemaker in my room, there is no need to pay $2-$4 for a cup of coffee!

- I am going to get into a routine. I think the best way to accomplish this is to get into a routine. Right now my days are sporatic but if I start scheduling out time for waking up, getting to sleep, studying, social activities, etc. I will be able to accomplish everyting!

- I am going to work on my severe procrastination. Ok so this one won't actually happen but it's worth a try!

First Attempts

I've recently been reading a lot of blogs- all different types. But the ones that have caught my attention the most (and have inspired me to write this one) are food blogs.

As a college student my budget is tight and my food sorces are limited (no car on campus) so this is going to be my attempt at coming up with the best ways to eat and stay healthy!

At school we have a mandatory $1000/semester meal plan... but somehow halfway through this semester I have blown all of it.

Where did it all go?

To feed my coffee addiction.

I am perfectly aware and fine with my addiction until it starts wasting all of the money I need to use for food! So now I am being forced to buy all of my food at the store, which makes this the perfect time for me to start eating healthy!

Healthy eating + dorm room (a microwave and a mini fridge) = I'll see how this goes!
